Benchmark indices on Tuesday opened with a huge gap up. NSE Nifty opened at 9091 level and its all-time high of 9122 level. While BSE Sensex opened at 29437 level and hit a high of 29561 level. In spite of benchmark indices trading in green, the BSE Telecom index on Tuesday is trading in red and is the top losing index. The index is trading at 1282 level and down by 2.5 points or 0.2%.
Heavyweight stock, Bharti Airtel, Tata Communications, TTML and IDEA are trading in the red. Bharti Airtel is majorly contributing to the index downfall and dragging the index down. Bharti Airtel is down by 0.8%, TTML is down by 0.5%, and Idea is down by 0.05%.
Meanwhile, other stocks in the index are trading in green such as, ITI is up by 5.5%, GTL Infra is up by 2.6%, Vindhyatel is up by 2.1%, Strech is up by 1.6% and Reliance Communication is up by 1.3%. Among all the index constituents there are 11 advances, 4 declines.
