Indian global telecommunication services company, Bharti Airtel and state-owned telco, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd., (BSNL), are working with Nokia to transform current networks to 5G, with the telecom gear maker defining used cases around the technology that will be relevant for the Indian market.
The Finnish gear maker recently inked memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with market leader Airtel and BSNL.
The purpose behind these MoUs would be to launch 5G, and authorising the steps that are required for the same. Besides they also identify applications to define the target segment, that will help to fulfil 5G strategy for telecommunications companies.
This is an initial phase for getting into 5G, however the commercial launch of 5G technology is likely to take place around 2019-2022 worldwide.
