Bharti Airtel is up by 2.44%, trading at Rs 350 per share, and is pushing the BSE Telecom index higher by nearly 2%. The BSE Telecom index is up by 21.3 points or 1.8% trading at 1265.55 levels.
Bharti Airtel is the top gainer in the index, along with GTL Infra, which is up by nearly 2.7%, trading at Rs 6.28 per share. Infratel is up 1.64%, Idea is up by 1.6% and HFCL is up by 1.2%.
TTML is the worst performer in the index and is down by 1.56%. MTNL is down by 1.18% and Tata Communications is down by nearly 1%.
In a fresh development, adding to the bullish sentiment for telecom stocks, on April 6, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has advised Jio to withdraw the 3 months complimentary benefits of JIO SUMMER SURPRISE.
Under JIO SUMMER SURPRISE, all JIO PRIME members making their first recharge payment of Rs 303 (or higher) plans got three months of complimentary services in addition to the benefits of their purchased plan.
