Tata and Adani Groups’ exposure to the power sector, will soon be reviewed by the lenders, led by SBI.
The fallout after the Supreme Court (SC) verdict on compensatory rates for imported coal, has been keeping them worried.
According to some senior bank executives, even before the SC verdict the situation was worrisome, as power units of these firms using Indonesian coal are making losses.
“The SC verdict might add to the strain on balance sheets. We will begin an analysis and get clarity in two or three days, before deciding on the next course of action,” said the head of a Mumbai-based public sector bank, while speaking to a leading English daily.
