UJALA Scheme To Be Launched In UP On April 14

UJALA scheme (Unnat Jeevan by Affordable LEDs and Appliances) will be launched by UP CM Yogi Adityanath & Union Power Minister Piyush Goel on April 14. Under the scheme, consumers can buy 9 Watt LED bulbs, BEE 5-star rated energy efficient fans and LED tube lights at nearly half the market prices as reported in a national business daily.

UP Power Minister Shrikant Sharma told a leading newspaper agency that “UJALA will go a long way in supplementing the 'Power for All' target in the state". He also pointed out that all the other states had long back endorsed the 'Power for All' plan.

The UJALA scheme is being implemented by Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a joint venture under the administration of Ministry of Power, Government of India.
