NTPC Aims To Produce 3 Mn Tonnes Of Coal From Own Mines

NTPC, a state-owned company engaged in generation of electricity, has awarded Mine Developer-cum-Operator (MDO) contract for the company Dulanga coal mine in Odisha.

The contract is part of the company's plan to produce 3 million tonnes of the dry fuel in FY18. During the last fiscal, the power giant has debute into coal mining. 

NTPC has produced more than 4.6 Lakh tonne of coal from Pakri-Barwadih mine and successfully despatched 58 coal rakes (2,02,480 tonne of coal) to its Barh power station. 

The stock of the company on the NSE was trading up by Rs 162 per share, higher by Rs 1.9 per share or 1.2% at 1000 hours. The stock has delivered 5% in a period of one year and has underperformed the BSE Sensex and BSE Power indices over the same time span.
