SpiceJet Collaborates With US Company For Lighter Seats Hits 52-Week High

Domestic low-cost carrier, SpiceJet, collaborates with a US-based company for lighter seats which offer more legroom on the aircraft. The new seats will be retrofitted in SpiceJet's existing Boeing 737 Next Gen fleet. It will also fit news seats in its first 50 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

The agreement with LIFT by EnCore is for the product line called Tourist Class Seating. According to SpiceJet, it will increase comfort and convenience of passengers and enhance customer experience.

Reduction in weight of seats means less fuel usage, thereby enabling the airline to cut fuel costs.

SpiceJet was trading higher by 2.8% at Rs 135.45 per share at 1016 hours on BSE. The stock touched a new 52-week high value of Rs 136.30.
